Wand Cards Part 1: How To Make A Star Wand

So, as promised in my last post, today I want to show you how to make a Wand to add to your Wand Cards.

I had three things I wanted to talk about in this post ...
1. How to make a basic wand
2. How to adapt this quickly & simply to add to a greetings card, and make it interactive too, so that the wand can be taken off and played with.
3. Share some ideas for making them even prettier and more sparkly.

But the post was far too long & photo-heavy!

So I'm going to split it up into 3 posts over the next 3 days. And today, I'm going to show you how to make a basic Wand.

I'm going to be making a Star Wand. The method is exactly the same if you want to make one with a different Topper, such as a snowflake. Just replace the Topper!

How To Make A Basic Star Wand

You will need ...
Wooden Skewer
2 identical Star Shapes, one for the front of your Wand, and another for the back
(I'm using Glitter card for the front & thin White Card for the back)
Ribbon or Twine
Double-Sided Tape (not shown)
& PVA Adhesive (not shown)

1. Select the star you want to use as the front of your wand. And using tape, secure your wand stick to the back of it. If you are using Double-Sided Tape, remove the wax / silicone backing before you proceed to the next step.

2. Still working on the reverse side of your wand, apply PVA Adhesive to the surface of your star ...

3. ... and carefully lining up the edges, secure your second star over the first. You may find using some tiny craft pegs useful to hold it all in place whilst it dries.

4. Tie a ribbon around it. And your Star Wand is finished!

Simple? Very!

Tomorrow, I'll be showing you how you can adapt this quickly & simply to add to a greetings card, and make it interactive too, so that the wand can be taken off and played with. And the following day, I'll be share some ideas for making them even prettier and more sparkly.
